I have now for sale a number of Museum Quality Japanese Samurai Swords and Matchlock Guns; I have visited dozens of famous Japanese Museums and I can assure any potential buyer that these pieces are far superior to what I have seen on display there. Having sold 10,000+ Samurai Swords and Tachi in my 38 year career I can speak with confidence. Also I have been, of course, in dozens and dozens of Japanese sword collectors' homes and can also state that my pieces being shown on this web page are superior to anything I was ever shown. Sad to say, I have seen many Japanese collections purchased for great amounts of money over many years time from many famous Tokyo Dealers, where each and every piece was a modern reproduction in some way. What I offer has been very carefully selected as the best of all that passed through my hands, the rarest or the most beautiful, and most of these are for sale starting now.

Here are a few Museum Quality Japanese Samurai Swords and Tachi that took me 38 years to collect, and that I would now consider selling, as I am ill and retiring.
A Tokyo Publisher is now considering putting many into a book they are preparing but I can stop that or continue as the potential buyer wishes. I am preparing this site for just one or two customers who have expressed interest - I am not able to password protect it, but the site itself is not mentioned anywhere else nor back linked anywhere else.

I have added 300 photos of Museum Quality Japanese Samurai Swords Here

I thought about it long and hard and took a number of days to prepare the photos but now realize I face an almost impossible task - If I wish to show just 30 Samurai Swords in detail, I would need at least 10 photos of each to give a full and complete 3-D idea of what is being offered, and this means Samurai Sword 900 photos. If I add gorgeous gold Inro and Kinko Tsuba we are easily in the thousamds and thousands ... that will certainly make it the slowest loading site in history.

Here is how I would use one million dollars to create a collection of beautiful Japanese Art that would last for 100 years. I thought to myself, if I had a large dispay area to show the wonder and beauty of one thousand year's of Japanese Art, what would I choose to display? Well, here is what I came up with: I would display several silver and gold Daimyo Tachi, as these are the rarest and most desirable item, by far, of all Japanese Samurai Swords. So, I have selected five of the best. Then, to show the beauty and variety of Japanese Samurai Swords I have included several polished Katana that I fell are special in some way, and have added a few extraordinary Wakizashi and Tanto; then I added armor, a wall cannon, some Kinko Tsuba, a few Gold Inro depicting the Fox goddess helping make a Samurai Sword --- and then to help display it all I put in some sword racks, each attractive and hard to find, one especially beautiful one from my collection --- and there you have it. So, the collection starts beow, and separatly I will also create an explanation of each (not posted here) to get a better idea of the totallity and its beauty and size and shape. And for dessert I have included an historically impostant Samurai Mempo: the face mask of Takeda Shingen, with box and worm-eaten papers. So, let's start:
This first Daimyo Tachi is one of the prizes of my collection: it was a gift from the Emporer Meiji to Professor Fenollosa in 1888. I chose it because I think it would be the center piece of any collection, and as such it is outstandingly beautiful, and unique. WIth a million dollars in hand, and a month or two in Japan to look you still could not find one like it anywhere --- in Tokyo or indeed, in the world. I have never seen or heard of anything like it. The Phoenix design is of course the private reserve of the Emporer and his family. The blade is dated 1356, a Bizen signed and dated piece. The Koshirae is a masterpiece of Japanese craftmanship and workmanship, far exceeding any work seen on Western swords or even Renaissance medieval silver and goldsmithing... which, of course, would cost you ten or twenty times as much! Details Here !!!
This Daimyo Tachi is from the Ikeda clan, the blade is signed and dated Eiroku 3, or 1560; and the mounts are signed which is very rare in Tachi, since nearly all I have ever seen have been unsigned as a measure of modesty and respect for the Daimyo family for which they were made. These silver and gold mounts were made by and signed by Goto Family, Goto Mitsuhisa, and this family was solely resposible for the gold coinage of the Tokugawa Shogunate (the large Oban gold coins selling for over $100,000 each to coin collectors --- although each Oban is nearly identical !!!). Inside and outside : magnificent!!! Details Here !!!

Next: a gold mounted Tachi with a "named" blade inside. I don't have much historical information on this piece, as is true with most works of Japanese Art, yet I included it because I thought it very very beautiful and the contrast between the lucious gold mounts and the deep black on black scabbard lacquer desing quite striking, and will be wonderful on display.

Each year, just two or three of these very rare and important Shakudo Nanko Tachi are made Juyo or Important Art Obects: this one is nearly certain to become a Juyo too, although most of these need to be submitted several times as this increases dramatically the fees collected by the selection committe. This Koshirae is circa 1700 to 1760.

These almost never come up for sale, and I have had this one for 30 years. Juyo Koho Shakudo Nanako Daimyo Tachi Koshirae Details are Here !!!
